New abode.
Yes, today I moved my backpack into a new dwelling. I am now to be found at pasaje Mendez Arcos, if you´re in the neighbourhood, pop in and say hello. It´s quite nice, although is crammed with various gaudy works of art, some peculiar broken statues and the customary gaudy nick nacks that you tend to find in these Bolivian homes. Still, I can sweep all that under the table and spend my time, as I did this afternoon, gazing across yon canyon at Illimani and the Devil´s Molar. Which I can do whilst reclining on the sofa. Hurrah!
I´ve got a new class in the evenings as well. Was sad to say goodbye to the other lot as they turned out to be a lot of fun - in fact they were quite indignant that I was leaving them and threatened to go a march outside the institute. Their chant was to be "theatre! theatre! theatre!" because none of them can say that word. Aaah, good old Mr Chips or what have you. Anyway, I tried to tell the new lot about brewing (we were doing gerunds) but they didn´t seem that interested, for some strange reason. They are a bit lifeless but apparently all students go a bit quiet when they get a new teacher so I don´t feel too bad. Yet. They are at a higher level so it´s a much bigger job preparing. And the lessons are 2 hours long. Yawn.
Oh yes, Dave, thy work is done. My black toenail finally fell off last week. Thought you (and everyone else would be interested). Will post it to you together with the brown goo that lay beneath. I will keep you all updated on the development of my new big toenail. More new beginnings, I don´t know....
We had another spaceship on Saturday which reached new lows of debauchery. I was very well behaved though, you can be sure of that. A few students, staggering around covered in cake and a few teachers in similar or worse condition (not me though, oh no. No really). More music, ludicrous conversations and the like. All good fun. Not sure how long it will continue as it has strayed somewhat from the academic ideals originally behind it.
E-day in 2 days. Most exciting. So, all is still well and the forecast is for even better times to come.
