Breakfast odyssey
Hello hello. Hope everyone is well. We are. Well, I am. I'll let Elizabeth tell you about herself shortly. This week, I have been taking my aforementioned egg-fanatic girlfriend on a thrilling odyssey of my favourite La Paz breakfast joints. Negotiating the Scylla and Charibdis of...um....work and....er....."tiredness." And there´s more to come. Mmmm....breakfast. What else? Her arrival seems to have energised me (in a good way); we have cleaned the flat - no doubt on my own I would have just lain sprawled on the sofa gathering dust and cobwebs. And crumbs. We have eaten, we have drunk, we have been shopping. We are now going to start "doing things" (I think that means excursions and so forth rather than just eating and drinking). School is going well although my pre-intermediate students all failed their exams. Oh dear. I´m getting paid though. Hooray. Not much else to report from my side I think. I love papaya. And La Paz, I love La Paz. Right, let´s recreate that magic chemistry of yore so I´ll hand you over to m'colleague now, the Bizmuth to my...ah....Methane.
Thank you Sam, I feel like we´re some kind of daft double act on a game show. Countdown perhaps. My first week here has been excellent, after a few days of aforementioned lying around and eating I was getting slightly itchy about not being occupied so have been having Spanish lessons every day and started working at the local kids home on Thursday. There are 70 of them, boys and girls and they've either been abused, neglected, orphaned or their families can´t take care of them for whatever reason. They're only supposed to be there temporarily and then ideally they go back to a family member or go into one of the permanent homes where there are generally 400 or so kids. We take groups of 8-10 and basically play games and draw and dance around to Shakira so I am enjoying myself enormously, as you can imagine. Although I think I might need to learn how to say "calm down" in Spanish.
It´s a beautiful sunny day today but it has been FREEZING this week, no central heating so no wonder they have all these hairy llama accessories, I might need to take Sir up to the market for a shopping expedition which I´m sure he'll enjoy enormously. It´s supposed to be getting warmer and much much wetter soon, am slightly apprehensive about walking up and down these enormous hills when the rain starts, although after all the hiking I should have the thighs of a gymnast by the time we leave so every cloud and all that.
Consonant please, Carol. (It´s Sam again. Just wanted to have the last word). The last word.
